Who We Were In 1919, Drexel University was approaching its thirtieth year as an educational institution. At this time, the American Fraternity was growing as more young men came back from fighting overseas in World War I. On November 21st of that year, a group of students came together to form Kappa Sigma Delta Local Fraternity. For 14 years, the men were leaders on campus and also produced a yearly theatrical production. Their devotion and hard-working attitude caught the eye of a national fraternity called Pi Kappa Phi. Pi Kappa Phi was little more Group Photothan a year away from celebrating its thirtieth year in existence on May 20th, 1933. On that date, Pi Kappa Phi granted a charter to Kappa Sigma Delta of Drexel University. Who We Are It all started in 2003. Alpha Upsilon chapter of Pi Kappa Phi, at Drexel University was closed. After initiating over 1300 men, the doors to the Pi Kapp house were locked up. It meant that in a few years, a new Alpha Upsilon would immerge on the campus in western Philadelphia. It was both a disappointing time, and a time of inspiration.
The house would need a lot of work, and with the generosity of many alumni, it would re-open its doors in September of 2007, with an initial live-in community of eight future founding fathers.
